Siemens Communications was a joint venture company formed in February 1997 as part of a global merger of the private communications businesses of Siemens AG and the General Electric Company PLC. In August 1998 Siemens purchased the remaining shares in the company. In Australia the company embraces the former activities of the Private Communications Systems division of Siemens Ltd and of GEC Plessey Telecommunications (Australia) Pty Ltd.
Operating as part of the worldwide Siemens Private Communication Systems group, we are proud to be part of the largest supplier of PABX systems in the world.
Siemens Communications is headquartered in Sydney, Australia, with offices located in Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Auckland. In addition to these we have a network of authorised dealers and partners located in all major centres in Australia and New Zealand.
The organisations that have combined to form Siemens Communications have a long and proud history in the Australian Telecommunications market.
The company employs some 300 staff in sales, service, engineering, manufacturing and consulting, and maintains a capability to design, develop, produce and support innovative telecommunications solutions in the voice and data areas.

Transmission Products
Siemens Communications supplies Telstra with the
Time Division Cross Connect switches which form the heart of the
public Digital Data Network. Over 150 of these Australian
Designed Switches are currently in service. The company also
supplies a range of voice transmission equipment including
loading coils, hybrid amplifiers, two and four wire line testers,
metering pulse conversion equipment and the like. Equipment can
be modified or developed to meet a wide range of requirements as
necessary.
Payphones
The company is currently the
sole supplier to Telstra of owner operated payphones. More than
45,000 phones have been shipped to date. We maintain a core of
local expertise in the design 
and manufacturing
of payphones as well as having access to the payphone products
and technology of Siemens and GPT. Thus the company can provide
an optimum mix of local design, customisation and support and
leading edge payphone and smartcard technology from around the

Manufacturing
We operate an efficient, flexible
manufacturing facility in Sydney, Australia. A wide range of
telecommunication products are made, repaired and refurbished by
a well trained team of experienced technicians and process
workers.
Large PABX Systems
The company sells both the Siemens Hicom 300 and GPT iSDX ranges of PABX. The Hicom 300 supports a full range of iSDN features and specialised applications for call centres, trading and dispatch operation. Hicom solutions can be tailored to meet the specific requirements of our customer’s businesses.
The iSDX range caters for the needs of both small and large business customer whether a single site or a national network. The iSDX has adopted an Open Communications Architecture supporting open telephony and computing standards, providing an platform for an ever growing range of business applications.
Small and Medium PABX Systems
Siemens Communications supplies the Hicom 100 range of PABX’s designed to meet the needs of the smaller enterprise. Fully iSDN compatible, Hicom 100 brings the additional benefits of data, text and image communications within the reach of businesses that traditionally have had systems which support only voice communication.
Terminals
As well as payphones, we can provide a wide range of terminals, including the Optiset E Telephone Handset.
Cellular
Siemens Communications has recently entered the Australian market with its leading edge digital GSM mobile technology. We offer state of the art products for mobile phones, cordless telephones and GSM based applications.
Maintenance
Our nation-wide service network offers a range of maintenance options designed to let you choose what best suits the needs of your business. Standard packages offer a variety of response time and hours of coverage up to, and including 24 hour, 365 day coverage with fast response. if there isn’t a standard package that meets your particular needs, We shall work with you to define a specially tailored solution for your business.
Training
To get the best out of your investment your people need to be trained to use the products you buy. We offer a range of training from basic extension user and operator training through to the management of our systems. When required, we are able to tailor specific training for individual customers.
Project Management
Because communications today are becoming increasingly complex we believe in providing a total solution. Our infrastructure and experience mean that we are able to competently manage the project to integrate this total solution. Our local experts, backed by the worldwide resources of our parents, are able to deal with a spectrum of issues including network design, integration of third party products, CTI integration and cabling co-ordination.
Outsourcing
Many companies such as the operations of major coal fired power generation plants have outsourced the management and maintenance of their communications infrastructure to us. Carrying out the diverse range of tasks in such an outsourcing role requires flexibility and a wide range of capabilities which are addressed through our ‘one contractor - one responsibility’ approach.
